Four students at our school lost their parents to gang violence. The oldest is 17. They sleep on a bare floor in an abandoned ruin — no beds, no food, no clean water. They have no one else. Their loving uncle is unable to support financially. They have us. And now, they have you.

What Happened
In the violence that has torn through the Kenscoff region of Haiti, four brothers and sisters lost their parents. In a single stroke of cruelty, they became orphans. The oldest, just 17, became single parent to the three, who are 15, 9, and 6 years old.
They were left in the streets. A person with a good heart offered them the only thing he had: an empty, abandoned structure. It was an act of real kindness, but it is not a home. The roof is full of holes. The door barely stands. There are no beds; the children sleep on the bare concrete floor. There is no kitchen — they cook, when there is anything to cook, over stones on the ground. There is no clean water. There is no food.
Those four children are students at the Words In Action school. They have lost their parents, their home, and their childhood — but they refuse to lose their future.
.At Words In Action Haiti, we believe education is those children’s only way out. But no child can learn while hungry, cold, and sleeping on concrete. Before we can teach these children, we must first help them regain their human dignity.

The Reality
These photos were taken inside the abandoned structure where the four children now live.
The Reality
Repair the leaking roof, install a proper door that locks, and cover the open window to better protect them from rain, weather, and intrusion.
Provide four beds, mattresses, sheets, pillows, and blankets so that no child has to continue sleeping on the concrete floor.
Provide consistent meals, safe drinking water, and proper water-storage containers while longer-term support is organized.
Provide clothing, shoes, hygiene supplies, a safer cooking setup, pots, utensils, and other basic items they currently do not have.
Your gift cannot replace what violence has taken from them—but it can provide beds, food, essential supplies, and immediate housing support while we work toward a more stable future for these four children.
Words In Action Haiti is a federally tax-exempt 501(c)(3) corporation. Your donation is tax-deductible. 100% of gifts to this emergency fund go directly to the care of these four children.
