In October 2024, thanks to the generosity of our supporters, Words in Action Haiti distributed 250 solar lanterns to families at our school in Qui-Croit.
In a community without electricity, a lantern is far more than a source of light. It gives children the opportunity to study after completing their chores, finish homework at night, and continue learning long after the school day ends.
The lanterns also helped families reduce or eliminate the cost of kerosene, allowing them to redirect precious resources toward food and other essential household needs.
A simple lantern brought more than light. It created opportunity, eased financial burdens, and reminded families that they were not alone.
Our goal is to expand the Lantern Project so that every child has the light they need to learn and every family has one less obstacle standing in the way of a brighter future.
Your gift can help provide solar lanterns to children and families who still live without reliable electricity. Each lantern gives a child more time to study, helps reduce household expenses, and brings light where it is needed most.
